Jessica and Chris met in college. Two different colleges that is. While Jessica was attending University of California Santa Barbara and Chris at San Luis Obispo, their sorority and fraternity planned a social in Santa Barbara. It was here that these two crossed paths and eventually led them this lifelong journey together.
Jessica was part of Chris’ team for a treasure hunt for the day’s event. They small talked and Jessica made fun of his van thinking it was his mom’s van but was actually his. After the treasure hunt, both played flip cup where Jessica taught Chris how to play. Afterwards, they hung out and agreed to spend time getting to know each other the next day. They took a walk to the beach and talked all day. And the rest is history.
Six years later, Jessica and Chris embarked on a journey called the Camino de Santiago de Compostela, which is a pilgrimage from the Pyrenees mountain range in France to Spain’s northwest coast . They completed the pilgrimage by arriving in Santiago, Spain. The next day they went to Finisterre, which is derived from the Latin finis terrae, meaning “end of the earth.” In Roman times, it was believed to be the end of the known world.
It was the official end of the pilgrimage and Jessica followed yellow arrows to the edge of the cliff where Chris was waiting. When Jessica walked over to Chris, he got on one knee and asked her to embark on their own “camino” together for the rest of their lives. WOW.
